The EAP is designed to increase productivity by helping public servants cope with personal and professional challenges.

The Ministry of the Public Service, Information and Broadcasting has launched an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).

The EAP is a work-based solution-oriented intervention program designed to enhance the professional attitude of government employees, and will assist employees in identifying challenges, and developing constructive action plans and strategies to deal with work and personal life.

Under the program, public officers benefit from counseling sessions in areas such as grief, domestic violence, anxiety, marital conflict, dependent care, emotional difficulty, alcohol and chemical dependency, and health challenges.

The EAP will provide each public officer with up to six free counseling sessions facilitated by highly trained professionals, who are guided by the Code of Conduct and Standards for Counsellors/Practitioners of the Employee Assistance Program.

The EAP will also facilitate workshops for public officers on time management, emotional coping, stress and anger management, team building, and conflict management.

Minister for the Public Service, Information and Broadcasting, Sen. Hon. Dr. James Fletcher lauded the EAP initiative, as the Ministry continues to commit resources to strengthening the productivity of government employees by helping to restore and maintain their emotional well being through the use of development programs.

The ceremony was held at the Public Service Training Institute at Union.
