THE CONFERENCE WILL FOCUS ON BUILDING LINKAGES AMONGST REGIONAL MAYORS AND IMPROVING CITIES.
Mayor of Castries, His Worship Peterson D. Francis will join other mayors from across the Caribbean at the inaugural staging of the Caribbean Conference of Mayors in Kingston, Jamaica on Monday, April 9.
The conference is being held under the distinguished patronage of His Worship the Mayor of Kingston, Senator Cllr. Delroy H. Williams and hosted by the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, under the theme, “Caribbean Cities: Honoring the Past, Embracing a Smart Future.”
The Caribbean Conference of Mayors which will commence on Monday, April 9, with several leaders expected to address the session, is the culmination of Kingston’s 145th Anniversary as capital of Jamaica. It is geared towards building associations and understanding among mayors and local government practitioners from across the Caribbean.
The conference will also focus on industrial opportunities with a special emphasis on building linkages amongst regional mayors, improving cities and promoting solidarity.
Results coming out of the discussions are expected to deepen the understanding of the structures and systems within various Caribbean territories and provide the platform to grow Caribbean cities and townships.
Mayor Francis will return to Saint Lucia on Friday, April 13.
